As someone who’s been around the handbag block a few times, I’ve seen it all, and done it all. Well almost. And I hope my advice is helping you all navigate the deep waters of buying knockoff purses. I’ve mentioned it before, but one of the most common beginner errors is forgetting about Customs Taxes. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard from girls who’ve ordered LV or Marc Jacobs handbags, and then they’re stung with an extra tax at the border. Many, let me tell you!
Well wouldn`t you know, my man couldn`t stop talking about the “man-bag” I bought him for Valentine`s Day? (It was the Hermes Steve pictured below) Perhaps a little femininity was trapped inside and needed a way out? Maybe he`s secretly been eyeing my purse collection all along! Or maybe it`s wrong to assume that the allure of handbags has anything to do with femininity in the first place? Don`t we all love looking good and having nice things?
The 70`s trend has hit like a wave of warm air, and it`s nothing to flutter at. Virtually every designer under the sun is deep into it, from Hermes to Marc Jacobs, to Gucci and everywhere in between. It`s not only handbags either, but a full on fashion renaissance of 70`s glamour, 70`s boho, 70`s disco flare…you get the picture. The question is, are you ready for it?
Neon and animal prints are two huge trends that have been occupying my attention all week. Marc Jacobs, LV, Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, YSL, D&G…you name it. They`re all doing neon and leopard – sometimes both on the same bag! Both are bold, bright, and seem wrong in that conservative dressing part of your brain. Don`t fear the risks! Here`s how to indulge the trend without losing sight of your own personal style.
I always get butterflies as the Autumn/Winter Fashion Week kicks off. I love that you get to see next year`s winter trends while you`re still wearing the last years. I also love that it`s the first sign that winter is finally ending and we can get ready for the next season. It`s just soooo exciting! Anyway, New York fashion week is just wrapping up and I`ve got to tell you that I`m a little bit disappointed about the handbag turnout. I mean, I know you can`t expect with big French and Italian names at NY Fashion week, but there`s usually something to get excited about. This year there was very little to get excited about….except for maybe the requisite Marc Jacobs bag or two.
